Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, the Lagos State Education Commissioner, has advised parents not to send their children to secondary school before they have completed the six years of basic education required by the National Policy on Education (NPE). At the Babcock University’s 19th undergraduate and 10th postgraduate convocations at Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, 82 students received first-class degrees. Prof. Ademola Tayo, Vice-Chancellor of the University, described the ceremony as a watershed moment in the university’s history. The university had adopted a phased resumption to get the session back on track despite the disruption caused by COVID-19. According to him, the university graduated 1,660 undergraduates and 419 graduate students. According to him, the Department of Mass Communication produced the overall best undergraduate, Okunola Teslimat, who scored 4.91 on a 5.0 scale, and the overall best postgraduate in the Ph.D. program, Olomojobi Femi, who scored 4.81 on a 5.0 scale. He went on to say that Amarachukwu Peace of the Public Health Department was the greatest Master’s degree graduate overall, with a CGPA of 4.77 on a 5.0 scale. The Vice Chancellor praised the students and the thronging university community on their contributions to the institution’s successes. He stated that the University would continue to strive for excellence while maintaining a sense of spirituality. Prof. Seddi Sebastian Maimakom, the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, has advised management of the university’s Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies’ four newly equipped skill acquisition units to put the equipment to good use. Maimako, who gave the charge during the inauguration of the new equipment, stated that its proper use would increase the institution’s ranking among globally recognized universities.
