Prof. Seddi Sebastian Maimakom, the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, has advised management of the university’s Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies’ four newly equipped skill acquisition units to put the equipment to good use.

Maimako, who gave the charge during the inauguration of the new equipment, stated that its proper use would increase the institution’s ranking among globally recognized universities.

The equipment at the Photography and Videography Studio, Robotics and Smart Classroom, Tailoring and Fashion Design Unit, and Digital and Artificial Lab, according to a statement signed by Abdullahi Abdullahi, Deputy Registrar, Information and Publications, is the first of its type in Nigeria.

He noted that the centre should be self-sustaining by encouraging the four units especially the Tailoring and Fashion Design Unit to liaise with the various departments that have dress codes and wear lab coats among others, to produce for their students in order to generate income to service their operations.

Maimako encouraged the operators of the well-equipped center to put the equipment to good use by empowering university students through the promotion of a self-development and self-sustaining model that will maximize their potential.

He suggested that the centre become self-sufficient by encouraging the four units, particularly the Tailoring and Fashion Design Unit, to collaborate with various departments that have dress codes and require students to wear lab coats, among other things, to produce for their students in order to generate revenue to support their operations.

He also challenged students to use the Robotics and Smart Classroom for virtual meetings with colleagues and supervisors, claiming that the lab contained other digital resources that were built to emulate human thought and might help UNIJOS shine.

Prof. Bonaventure Haruna, director of the Naraguta Campus’s centre, praised Maimako for her administrative prowess in making the project possible. Professor Haruna promised that the center, which is known for producing high-quality results, would not let the university down, and that they will continue to contribute to the Nigerian economy’s progress.
