The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro in Ogun, has been upgraded to a University of Technology by the Senate.
This came after the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TetFund’s report was debated in plenary on Tuesday.
Senator Sadiq Sulaiman (APC-Kwara), who presented the report, said there was a need to enhance possibilities for advanced technological education in the country.
He believes that converting Ilaro Polytechnic into a university of technology would be extremely beneficial to the surrounding people.
He added that the institute would provide job opportunities as well as educational opportunities in technological domains for Nigeria’s teeming youngsters.
Senator Solomon Adeola (APC-Lagos) was congratulated by President of the Senate Ahmad Lawan on the passage of the Bill that he had been working on since the 8th Senate.
