The West African Examination Council (WAEC) is the body responsible for organising the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). This is a standard examination that signifies a student’s completion of Secondary School studies.
This examination is sat in the five Anglo-phonic West African Countries every year. Upon successful completion, a student is awarded a certificate that shows their examination results.
Based on statistics and a report from WAEC, there are certificates dating back to 1960 in their posession. It is important to collect your WAEC Certificate in time to reduce delay of access when you need it, and avoid paying a lot of money as fine when you finally request for it.
Students who wrote their WASSCE in their schools are called School Candidates. To collect your WAEC Certificate as a School Candidate, please visit your school. Fees and process of collection is based on the school.
Private Candidates are students who wrote their WASSCE at External Examination Centres. Please visit the nearest WAEC Office if this is you, or visit https://certrequest.waec.ng to request for your certificate.
Here is why you should store your WAEC Certificate Electronically
One peculiar thing about this certificate is that it is only issued once. If it is lost or damaged, the council will consider issuing an attestation certificate to the student. Damage occurs often, most especially during lamination or physical storage.
Store your WAEC Certificate and prevent any loss or damage. Start by creating a profile on mycredentials.ng and uploading your WAEC Certificate from your dashboard.
