Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), has established a 17-man steering group to build the framework for the school’s Medical Sciences program.
The VC said the inauguration followed the Senate’s decision to create Medical and Engineering programmes at its 61st (special) meeting held last Thursday at the institution’s Council Chamber, Adankokolo small campus.
According to Akinwumi, if all other factors remain constant, the Medical College will open its doors for the next academic session.
Professor Mike Ozovehe Ogirima of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria is the coordinator/chairman, while Mr. Usman Abdul Kadir is the secretary, according to the VC, who stated the committee members were picked based on their academic track records. The VC stated that the committee should finish its work and submit its findings within six weeks.
Prof. Ogirima, the committee’s Coordinator/Chairman, committed to live up to expectations and deliver the assignment on time.
He promised that the group will not give up on building the required professional contacts to ensure the projected Medical College’s seamless launch.
